He'll talk your ear off about the finest alcohol in the galaxy, tell you the best planets to find the rarest and most satisfying of spices, and will often reek of the most delicious of cigarillos...but has anyone actually ever seen him drink, smoke, or spice-it-up? Is this just some facade that Deak has created to survive in this wretched hive of scum and villainy? Is he even a smuggler? You be the judge. But know this, reader..whatever it is you perceive of our man Sartana, your perception is a product of his genius. One thing is for sure, however...you'll always know if Mr. Sartana likes or dislikes you.
A young, sheltered, bored Deacon Sartana
He's quick with his mouth and his pistol(s). Slugs and bolts wiz past him as he'll perform a ballet of dodges and tumbles. Perhaps he used to be an acrobat? He keeps a few tricks up his sleeves; and like many magicians, he never reveals his secrets – pray he doesn't show you a trick or two. And how curious are we of his right hand with the single red fingernail upon his ring-finger? I'm sure that would make for a good story. Remember, however, it most likely is just a story.
Deacon is a well-mannered, even-tempered man. When he isn't crossed, he is extremely civil and approachable. He isn't like the other brutish spacers that curse and spit and smirk at you in that Corellian fashion (ugh, Corellians). He is well-dressed and well-trimmed considering his profession. His manners and well-adjusted attitude are a product of his upbringing on Virgillia 7, the location of that nasty and tragic civil war between the Virgillian Free Alignment (backed by the Alliance to Restore the Republic) and the Virgillian Aristocracy (backed by the First Galactic Empire). Our man Sartana found himself on the side of the Aristocracy, many years living a sheltered life. Though sheltered and somewhat unaware of his surroundings, he partook in many physical activities such as vibrorapier and slugthrower dueling.
His mother had died shortly after birth, and he was raised by his aristocratic father Sol Sartana and his servants. The day after his 18th birthday, he was kidnapped by a band of Aristocracy servants who were Free Alignment sympathizers. Young Sartana was brought before their charismatic and passionate leader, Liana Riley. It was revealed that in order to join the Free Alignment, Liana had planned to kidnap the treasured son of Sol and brainwash him to their cause, proving their loyalty as well as their . Being a young man who had just come of age, and given the rather vivacious charm and surprisingly soft and elegant features of Ms. Riley, our boy (now man) Deacon Sartana gleefully chose sides.
The "rebel"
Though Ms. Riley was a fiery warrior, she had fallen victim to the inherent Sartana charm. He was rather talented at playing Stockholm. So talented that Liana had mistaken Deacon for a reformed freedom fighter, and thus lead to a night of passion. Though their rambling conversations of anti-imperialism and passionate activism (see: terrorism, but we won't mention such matters) was a romance to be reckoned with, Ms. Riley had found our man Sartana with a true soldier for the cause, rolling around in her own bed.
Perhaps he meant for all of this to happen so he may be dropped back into the Aristocracy, if that were his planned, however, it had backfired. Planted evidence lead Alignment to sell Deacon Sartana to a band of pirates, where he would become their slave for a great number of years. Though the work was grueling and not of Deacon's taste, Mr. Sartana took advantage of the situation and become one of the gangsters. From errand boy, to bait, to eventually their best gunner aboard the only stolen Crusader-class corvette, Rouser.
Sartana eventually became Rouser's first mate to Captain Moko. After a year seeing the galaxy aboard the Rouser, Sartana was granted his freedom at the age of 28. By this time civil

war had ended, and Deacon found it fitting to return to Virgillia 7 to visit his father. Though much to Sartana's disappointment, he had learned the Sartana name had fallen as the Virgillian Aristocracy had crumbled to the Free Alignment.
Since then, our well-dressed Virgillian smuggler, Deacon Sartana, has been traveling from one of the galaxy to the next, smuggling, thieving, dealing and charming aboard the Charmer I with a BlasTech SE-14c Blaster Pistol at his side and Czerka's Adjudicator slugthrower pistol concealed beneath that fine gray vest. His only companions his clients and his two droids: The astromech droid R2-S7 Scout, and protocol droid (R)T-3PO, Artie.
