“A new dawn is rising and with it we bring the promise of a brighter tomorrow, in the grand Emperor Palpatines memory we shall bring order to chaos and unite all once more, we will impose Imperial might to show those that would destroy everything civilized and sow dissent, they will fail! And they will fall! The torch has been lit once more and it shall burn all the more brighter, so says the Sovereign Galactic Empire, so say we all!”
The Emperor following his announce of the Imperial Legislation Act at the Coruscanti Senate.

In Character[]

Smart and intelligent, Sheridon Rayner had always disclosed a smart mind with a sharp sense of the world surrounding him as from his youngest age. Precocious in his maturity, he always believed that the values embodied in the Empire were the only right one in the galaxy. Not evil per se, he always does and fights for what he sincerly thinks is the right way. Mischevious and manipulative when needed, he doesn't hesitate to do many things if that can lead to the galaxy becoming a better place as the Empire retrieves his lost glory.

Despite a seriousness he never departs himself from during his work, the Grand Moff can nevertheless shows a consistent sense of humour - very dry and even dark at times - when in more private settings. An other of his trademarks that doesn't really belong to the public persona, is his habit of discussing important Imperial matters during fencing sessions with his wife Empress Tatiana Renkl-Rayner.

Biography[]

Background[]

Childhood in the Dawn of the Empire[]

Born in a very Palpatine-supporting family, Sheridon had always heard about how the Supreme Chancelor - then Emperor - was a brilliant politician. As a child, he always remembered hearing how Palpatine was the only way out of the rampant corruption that gangrened the Republic. Once the civil war started, his family worked without hesitation to help the new political system to achieve as much as possible. Despite only spending very little time with his family as from his sixth birthday, Sheridon had always been bound to see non Imperial followers as the ennemy, and as narrow minded people.

Education in Politics and business[]

Sheridon spent most of his childhood and early teenage years in boarding school on Bastion, almost as from the moment the Galactic War began. Graduating at seventeen, he had already displayed a great interest for anything business and politics related, which naturally came to him given both his parental influences. Moving back to the Core World, he registered at the University of Coruscant, where he spent five years and earned two degrees in political studies, with a minor in cultural ones.

After that first formation, Sheridon was given an opportunity to join the Corulag University of Ecomomics. There he met Tatiana Renkl as they both arrived on Corulag in the same year, though she was entering the Imperial Military Academy. At nineteen, Tatiana was at her most hot headed stage, and in her more violent years, which didn't lead the two young imperials to ever get along, and basically spent each of the times they had the bad luck to stumble into each other. For the two years Sheridon spent on Corulag, it happened a few times, since Tatiana's former senatorial education made her being the usual liaison student officer between both Academic establishments. As for Sheridon, being one of the top students, he had been elected representant of his own course. Both Sheridon and Tatiana were mostly good at hating each other, despite always doing their duty when on officialy time, though the little interaction during their off time was knows to be disastrous and orageous.

Serving the Empire... And rebuilding it.[]

Beginning to actually work in politics full time towards the end of the civil war, and its immediate aftermath, Sheridon saw Palpatine's fall as a result of what he will later consider as the major flaw of the original incarnation of the Empire: Force Users and the cult aspect of it. That opinion about Palpatine and why the Empire lost the war against a pitiful band of rebels, turned out to be the one and only - though serious - disagreement between Sheridon and his father, until the death of the elder Rayner.

Nevertheless, Sheridon always remained truthful to the Empire that he had always served, even if he was aware that most of the leaders following Palpatine were mere puppets that couldn't make the faction regain its lost glory. Yet, he didn't desert and worked in shadows whenever needed, taking the public stage when there was a good reason to. Steadily, he earned a reputation of a very skilled politician, which, added to very good connections in other branches of the faction, helped him reach the highest rank possible : Emperor, Political Leader of The Sovereign Galactic Empire.

The new Emperor[]

Driven by the will to turn the Empire into the glorious and righteous faction it once was, Sheridon also relied on the cooperation between the various branches to make it shine again. Trusting the two other members of the Imperial Triumvirate - Tatiana Renkl and Celcia Verdelet - he didn't lose time in useless pondering before deciding upon new laws that would only help refining the Empire and securing people in the galaxy about how Imperials could bring peace and justice back in it. One of the verry first announcements he did at the Coruscanti Senate already brought controversy in the ennemy's ranks, since the Imperial Legislation Act. Not only re-inforced the human superiority proned by the Empire, but it also brought Rayner's personal touch that drew a line with Palpatine: Force users were now declared bannished from Imperial territories, no matter which affiliation they served.

Failed Coup and Coma[]

One day, a coup was attempted against the Imperial leadership, and where Celcia and Tatiana remained mostly unharmed, Sheridon was barely kept alive and has remained in a coma for the last few months. Those events led his wife Tatiana Renkl-Rayner- both Imperials having tied the knot a few weeks prior due to Tatiana's unexpected pregnancy - to take his position as Imperial Political leader.

Family[]

The Rayner bloodline has been a wealthy and semi aristocractic family of Bastion, whose participation to the galactic political life goes back to a couple of centuries ago, as they grew closer to the Bastion government as time passed. Most of them worked either as ambassadors or as senators. Sheridon's father, Markus, was acting as the Senator of Bastion when Palpatine was elected Supreme Chancelor. A great supporter of the one who would later become the galactic Emperor, ??? was once contacted to get Bastion to join the Separatists, but he always refused, believing that Palpatine would eventually do the right thing to put the Republic back on tracks.

A few years before the Empire was established, Markus married Ivanova Garbaldi, the only daughter of the CEO of the Garbaldi Corporation, a powerful shipyard owner of Gyndine. Both Rayner and Garbaldi families sharing the same values believed that such an union would be favorable power and finance wise for them. A dozen of years younger than her husband, Ivanova gave birth to Sheridon only about three years before the rise of the Empire.

Sheridon's sister, Marian, was born twenty two years later, in the aftermath of the Civil War. She was living between Bastion and Gyndine with her their parents, while Sheridon was spending most of his time on Bastion, working with the Imperial Remnants. Markus and Ivanova got killed during a stay in the Garbaldi property during the combats ending with the planet joining the New Republic. Thankfully Marian was visiting her brother for once, and after most of the Garbaldi family was wiped out during the conflict, Sheridon sent her to boarding school on Coruscant, where she spent almost all of her life between eight and twenty, age at which she returned to Bastion to work for the Empire.

In his early twenties, one of Sheridon's flings turned him into a father, though he never learnt about it. His former partner - Laska Santurus - gave birth to Jerin, who years after became an Imperial Moff, working as Sheridon's second, once he got to the rank of Grand Moff and political leader of the Sovereign Galactic Empire. Neither of them have any idea that they are related to one another.

Sheridon's only long term relation, despite being on and off since it started about fifteen years ago, is with the current Political Imperial leader, Empress Tatiana Renkl-Rayner. The relationship was only made public when they got married a few months back.

Rank and Abilities[]

One of the greatest strengths of the Grand Moff is his dual education in both politics and economics, which made him develop a sharp sense of business. Such an asset proves to be particularly crucial when picking on allies or choosing a planet to take over in relation with both Intel and Military.

Since his early years in politics, Rayner has also displayed very efficient speech skills, that made a striking orator of him, which comes to use more often than not for a political leader, either for motivating the Imperial ranks or to win over important negociations.

Though he never had any military training, the Grand Moff has practiced high level fencing for most of his life, originally to his mother's wishes, as it was a tradition in the Garbaldly family. Up to that date, Sheridon still practices the art of fencing everyday.
