Her Story[]

Jamie Parke was born in Thede Naboo. She grew up as a mechanics daughter, and learned the ins and outs of ships, droids, etcetera. Her father was the center of her life, as her mother had died when she was seven years old. Jamie would help her father with anything, and he adored his little girl. When Jamie turned nineteen years old, her father was killed by an assassin. Not knowing why, where the assassin would strike next, or what would happen to her if she stayed at the small house she had known for so long, Jamie fled Naboo. Before leaving, she searched the wrecked house so she could aquire food and other needed belongings. In the process, she pulled a brick from the wall (her and her father would leave things for eachother in the hole). She wasn’t expecting to find anything at all, but a single note, a piece of paper was left. She retrieved it and read the following words:

Jamie dear daughter of mine,

If you find this, then I am truly gone forever. Don’t cry! Don’t blink! Just run! Get out as fast as you can, but before you do, follow my instructions. Climb to the roof of the house, in the right corner, move the three chairs away, there should be a hole. Put your fingers inside, and see what happens…

Jamie then ran to the roof, moved the chairs, and without hesitation she stuck her hand inside the hole. Her fingers slid over something that felt like metal block their way. Suddenly, a hissing sound errupted and the hole opened wider, revealing a datapad. She grabbed it, stuck it in her backpack, and ran like she had never run before. Off planet. She didn’t stop yet to see what was hidden inside the datapad… but she would find out a few days later when she arrived safely on Dantooine that it held a single key. What would it fit into? What was so important that the assassin had to kill her father to get to this one key…

She doesn’t know yet, but had made herself not think of it. Or the assassin.

Jamie was desperate for a place to hide, and she had no money except the credits she had found that had belonged to her father. Even those, were few. So she decided to get out of Naboo and go to Dantooine. Hopefully someone would help her there. Jamie did go, but she was not able to find anyone that would let her stay with them, until she spotted a farm. There was a family who lived there, and they welcomed her into their home. As soon as she stepped in the door though, she could tell by their faces that all was not right. She didn’t figure out what it was though until she saw a man who looked wary and just plain exhausted. She noticed he would go through the days in a listless sort of way. Whenever someone tried to speak to him, he wouldn’t answer, and his eyes were cold. Dark and cold, like he had nothing to live for and didn’t want to live for that matter.

Jamie did not find out until later that his name was Forrest Parke. She had agreed to stay on and help care for the farm, but she had an idea of what Forrest needed to regain himself. So one day, she hovered at the door of his room , then made up her mind to do something about the way he just sat in there all day. The woman grabbed his arm, which startled him to say the least, and practically had to half drag him outside. She put a bucket in his hands and ordered him to milk the cows. This seemed to snap him out of whatever abyss he had been falling towards. He remained silent for a while though, and slowly Jamie grew to love him more than anything else. She was surprised when he asked her to marry him two years later.

They moved into another house, which wasn’t a farm but was still a house. They had a field that no one used, so they planted in it, and lived off of that and Forrest’s job as a teacher for a long time. Until one day, he told her he needed a new job. One that could pay better. She finally agreed to let him apply to be a medic in the New Republic.

She still worries sometimes, that the assassin will come back for the key that is hidden behind one of the hundreds of bricks in her house… but that couldn’t happen again could it?

Maybe.
