Background[]
Evan grew up on Corellia with his younger sister, Aleane. Their mother died when Evan was only 10 and their father wasnt around often causing the two to grow up on their own. Whenever their father would return to Corellia he would tell the children about his adventures in the galaxy and even teach them things that he learned in his travels. Through this and growing up on the streets of Corellia, he and Aleana became well versed in hand-to-hand combat of different styles. However unlike his sister he didnt enjoy the rough life of a street urchin and he vowed to make something of himself in the galaxy.
He got into school with the help of an internship program that he participated in for 3 years when he was 16. 6 years later Evan graduated from school with a degree in political science. During the last two years of his studies he struggled with his school work out of worry for his sister who had decided to travel the galaxy and only contacted him once every month. At his graduation only his father showed up to congratulate his son for trying to do something with his life, after that Darryn Mathews was never seen by his children again.
Evan got a job in the Coruscant Senate Building for sometime, working as a clerk and a records keeper. 5 years passed and he became unsatisfied with his job (now chief records librarian and small time advisor to a local politician). From the Senator, Evan learned that the New Republic had an internship program that allowed individuals the chance to become involved in the government. He applied to the program and was accepted and told to travel to Telos IV to be interviewed. Unfortunately, his shuttle arrived late and he was told that he would have to try again next year. To his surprise Chief of State Daine Saria happened to be walking by and overheard the pleas of the young man. Whether she had nothing to do at the time or felt sorry for him, Evan will never know, but she gave him and interview and accepted him into the program.
It took only a year for Evan to earn a salaried job from the New Republic, less than most first-time interns. His hard work and sense of humor seemed to rub the right way on his bosses, even allowing him to work with the Chief of State once while he was an intern. After being promoted, Evan was approached by his sister whom he hadnt seen in nearly 6 years. She expressed how proud she was of him and gave him a silver watch that she had bought for his new job, to "give [him] a more dignified look". On the back side of the watch it read: "Insomnia is your greatest weapon", an old joke that their father had told them once. He accepted the watch gratefully and watched as his sister once again departed, though this time she kept in touch more often than before.
Evan soon realized that politics was too messy for someone with a past like his. He stepped down from his post as Advisor to Chief of State Daine Saria and became a freelance journalist for various holonet news companies around the galaxy. However after a fairly brief run in the investigative journalist profession, Evan decided to return to politics and run for the office of Prime Minister of the New Republic under the guidance and request of the acting Chief of State, Trey Channel. His campaign was successful, earning him the office and all of the difficulties that came with it. It wasnt long however until the administration was brought down when the Imperials attacked the Republic capital of Telos IV. Acting as interim Chief of State for a brief time when Channel was imprisoned, Evan came to realize that being at the top was not all it had once seemed to him. When the next election came, Evan decided not to run for full office and instead step down and run for a senatorial position which he won, becoming the current standing Senator of Corellia.
Personality[]
Evan is a fun loving but hard working soul. He made his way through life being "the funny one" of the two Mathews children. He is very close to his sister and is constantly worrying for her safety while she travels around. For those that he cares about this is a common trait that he has. Compassion along with a bit of sarcasm was always the way that the man treated the people he loved. He knows when to get down to business and when not to, though he prefers to operate in a very casual and laid-back manner.
Family[]
Not to much is known about the Mathews family. The only common knowledge is that Evan has become an Advisor to Chief of State Daine Saria. Evan has no idea that Aleane works as a mercenary or of her marriage to Alejandro. His father hasnt been seen since he graduated school.

About the Roleplayer[]
Derek Hayes here. I'm currently attending the University of North Texas in Denton, TX studying Radio/Television/Film as my major. My focus is going to be radio, just so you all know. Anyways...
