Biography[]
Serah was born on Dathomir to Lorena, a Dathomiri Clanmother and raised by a close friend of her mother's, Nikaiya on Naboo. Unlike her older sister, Jaesa, now known as Suri, who lived a life of slavery, Serah lived a more sheltered, happy life, though, like Suri, she has very little recollection of her mother and while she has photos of Suri and her together as young children, Serah knows very little about her Jedi sister
As she grew from infant to child, it became clear that Serah was born mute. No real explanation has surfaced as to why she is unable to speak vocally but she hasn't let her lack of voice stop her in the past. Her Force Sensitivity has provided a means to communicate with other Force users, but for those not Force Sensitive, Serah will communicate using sign language or point to what she needs. Often, however, actions speak louder than words, and Serah, like Suri, has a stubborn and courageous streak, but is not as jumpy as her sister in the dark because, unlike Suri, Serah does not suffer from nightblindness.
Serah came to the Jedi purely out of choice. She sees the Force as a means to achieve an end, but has the moral standing to know when the Force should and should not be used. She holds no anger toward her mother's actions or what happened to the clan, because she was too young to hold memories when the clan was lost. She does, however, wish to understand why it happened and while too young to leave the safety of the Jedi Temple on her own, she does look to her sister to search for whatever truth she can find.
Background[]
Serah Mireina Jaxx was born to the Clan Mother of the Flying Shadows, Lorena Jaxx on Dathomir. Not much is known about her father, other than he was Hapan though she does have an older sister, Jaesa. As a newborn, Serah's clan were wiped out by the Empire and most of the children, including Jaesa, were taken to be sold to slavery. Serah was one of the lucky few children that managed to be smuggled off Dathomir and taken into the care of a former clan member, Nikaiya, who had left the clan to marry a noble on Naboo.
As a baby, Serah was an incredibly quiet child. No one would really know if she were upset or hungry unless they looked at the expressions on her face. At the age of three, she was diagnosed with Aphonia, the inability to produce voice and it was suggested Serah learned to communicate with sign language. Over time, Serah grew into a happy and vivacious child despite her disability, and while she understood that she communicated differently to her peers, she learned to tolerate those that didn't understand,
Family[]
Birth Mother: Lorena Jaxx - Serah knows very little about her mother other than she was once a Clan Mother on Dathomir. From what her Adoptive mother, Nikaiya, told her, Lorena had somehow managed to smuggle Serah offworld when their clan was decimated.
Sister: Jaesa 'Suri' Jaxx - Like Lorena, Serah had very little knowledge about Jaesa, other than a photo of her sister holding her as a child and photos of Jaesa with Adraudia. Nikaiya believed Jaesa had died when her mother made her drink poison, so when Jaesa suddenly appeared fit and well, it came as a shock to her but a moment of great happiness.
Clansister: Adraudia - Serah only knew of Adraudia through photos Nikaiya had of Jaesa with Adraudia. While grateful to know she is alive, Serah can't help but wonder what would happen to her in the future. Serah hopes she will find happiness in her heart one day.
Adoptive Sister: Satkia Beltrak - While Serah doesn't know much about Satkia, she is grateful to her for rescuing her sister, Jaesa from the slavers and, like Jaesa, considers Satkia as much a part of her family as a blood relative would be.
