Biography[]
Dirks "Hutch" Hutchinson was a decorated starfighter pilot in the New Republic Starfighter Corps. The Navy Flight Lieutenant was a member of Rogue Squadron, and served as the elite squadron's Executive Officer. When a rare opportunity presented itself to represent his homeworld on the government front, he took it and now is the Core World's senator in the New Republic Senate.
Background[]
Dirks was born on Rendili and was raised in a typical blue-collar working class home. His father, Jorge, worked as an aeronautical engineer for Rendili StarDrive, and his mother, Sera, was an elementary school teacher. Both his older sister, Meri, and himself were spoiled by their paternal grandparents growing up as the elder Hutchinsons' lived close by and saw them almost on a daily basis.
Hutch, the nickname that his buds and coaches called him, was a star athlete for his high school the Oceanside Sharks. He excelled in all sports, chasing girls, and would have too scholastically if only the beach bum would have put his mind to it as the Rendili did have the smarts. He received an athletic scholarship to the University of Rendili to study engineering, but an injury his second year cut short the quarterback's promising college football career leaving him without money to finish his degree. The young Hutchison, who still needed to mature and learn some personal discipline, joined up with the military with his father's urging.
After passing flight school at the top of his class at the academy, the rookie pilot started out his flying career back home with the Rendili Air Defense Squadron. Hutch flew what ever RADS needed him to at the time; Y-wings, A-wings, and X-wings. When the urgent call came for more pilots to fill the New Republic's depleted ranks after the Empire's surprise attack on Telos IV, the Rendili applied and was accepted, garnering himself a coveted position with Rogue Squadron; the New Republic's most revered and feared elite X-wing squadron.
